“Ito po ang istorya ng aking buhay.”
My name for all eternity,
Recorded here at this hallowed place,
Alas my name, no more my face.
“In the line of duty,” I hear them say;
My family now the price will pay.
My folded flag stained with their tears;
We only had those few short years.
The badge no longer on my chest,
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind,
And pray they keep this thought in mind.
I never dreamed it would be me,
And with heavy heart and bended knee;
I ask for all here from the past,
Dear God, let my name be the last.

AND BELOW, A FILIPINO POEM WRITTEN BY ACTRESS MS. ALI SOTTO (courtesy of her Facebook page, in which this blogger, again, grabbed without any authorization):
Huwag ka nang lumuha, mahal ko
Di ko ninais na iwan kayo
Nguni’t sa tawag Niya
kinailangang tumalima
Buong tatag kahit may halong pangamba.
Pahiran na ang luha, mahal ko
Ako’y nabigyan ng pribilehiyo
Ang ialay ang buhay
para sa Inang Bayan
Apatnapu’t apat kaming nabiyayaan.
Tuyuin mo na ang luha, mahal ko
Baon ko ang mga alaala mo
Tuwing umaga paggising
sa gabi habang nahihimbing
Pintig ng puso lang ang layo ko.
AT MULA KAY SSSIP, HETO ANG KANYANG MASASABI SA IBABA:
“PAALAM, MGA KAIBIGAN KO.”—sssip 😦
“if u really want to see me, close your eyes and feel the beatings of your heart… that’s where i am.”
