************ ********** *********

Kasi, it requires me a lot of angst, pains and mixed emotions.

That makes it so ironical for me, na kadalasan, sa dagat ako nagsu-shooting o nagte-taping. Maybe, I have to face it talaga. Wala akong magagawa.”

Medyo yata na-“off” sila?

Para sa karagdagang impormasyon, bisitahin ang official “All of Me” accounts sa Facebook (All of Me TV), Twitter (@AllOfMeTV), at Instagram (@AllOfMeTV).

“all of me”: beneath the hidden dimensions of time (a review on the pilot episode of this new teleserye)

Stories that linger forevermore about the question of TIME. In folklore, occult novels, personal accounts, and yes, history.

Of people vanishing deep within the soil or deep within the seas, and when they reappear back, TIME has changed.

My grandfather, too, told me about a story of three fishermen-friends of his who were taken by mermaids and came back as little boys. He told me that story when he was sick and dying, but I vowed to him I won’t ever be scared at all.

Or what about the personal account of author T. Lobsang Rampa in one of his occult books- “The Third Eye”? He recounted there that he went to a place wherein time and space swallowed him and when he got out, he was already in an entirely different continent?

These and all still causes unbelief and amazement to many. But thanks to the very creative minds of the people behind a TV network- the channel 2 people- for giving and breathing-in a new life and a powerful concept for a TV series melodrama. An ancient tale has become the ‘backdrop’ of their new prime time teleserye, entitled “All of Me”.

A very beautiful pilot episode was seen and watched by a selected few during a press screening, attended by bloggers and movie press people, at Cinema 7 of SM Megamall last August 24, 2015.

The pilot episode seemed to swing you up and down as you felt like a baby in a cradle, being swayed upon by an invisible hand. No pretensions of grandeur and greatness, only a simple story-telling of a man’s life that rose up from a very tragic start.

The main lead was a boy who became a young man, and turned into a 56 year-old adult man. His name was Manuel, alternately played by Akira Morishita,

JM de Guzman and Albert Martinez.

His life was like a POEM, a lyrical song, with loving and sweet, lonely undertones. He lost all the people he so dearly loved, but emerged as a successful doctor who built-up a humble hospital in memory of his dead mom. But when he loved a woman and married her, she died.

He sought refuge in a watery land, where villagers are unassuming and kind. He lived a new kind of existence, seeking comfort in the ashes of his dead wife. Not until…

A young woman came along. Carefree, playful, sincere. And his heart became alive once more.

Albert Martinez as the old Manuel could makes you feel he was really ‘the’ JM de Guzman, the younger Manuel. To be able to do this seemed so hard, but a fine actor like Albert indeed transformed you into the hidden dimensions of time via ‘deja-vu‘s’, coupled-in by his powerful acting and controlled emotions.

Yen Santos as the young woman was so pretty to be true, angelic in nature, casual in her acting performance.

But another young supporting actor, in person of Arron Villaflor almost stole the show. His character as the other man who loved the young woman served as the bittersweet aspect of the plot. Arron exuded a great acting sensitivity this blogger had not seen for a long time.

Ms. Ana Capri, Neri Naig and Micah Munoz- the threesome bit players in most of the village scenes- looked so delightful, wholesome, wonderful. Especially that of Ms. Capri’s scene with Albert wherein she told him it’s okay for her as a mom to have him as his son-in-law. That scene was truly delightful! Wow.

The production design of this “almost- like- a- painting” pilot episode was so alluring, mystifying, that left you with a feeling of wanting to live there the rest of your life. Whoever is the production designer for this, simply deserves a “kneel down”.

The music “All of Me” by John Legend served as the perfect musical background for this pilot episode. It’s so romantic to hear, recharging your spirits, regressing your mind, body and spirit to become young once more.

But the most touching of all, was the way director Dondon Santos attacked his rather captivating style of an artistic direction for a TV teleserye. It was almost like a full-length movie that you were watching. Anticipating the next scene, loving every frame and angles, shots and “bird’s eye views”. Truly AVANT-GARDE.

As the ocean rumbles, scrambles and raptures…

Or the skies turns blue, and the lights, orange.

Silhouettes from a different angle of time, once again, appear-

On the face and the image of the greatest young actor we had seen in this generation-

Mr. JM de GUZMAN.

As the younger Manuel, you could feel an almost mystical spirit, mixed-in with humbleness and perfection.

The way he ran in the sand dunes, the way he jumped, the way he cried, and smiled.

It’s ALL OF HIM.

Yes, without JM de GUZMAN in this TV teleserye, the “poetic justice” of a remarkable story-plot could not be put into a totally magnificent form.

It’s like, your embracing his very soul via this TV drama, loving him more, touching him more.

And,

you won’t ever want to lose him again

FOREVER.

(as the words were written by the “67”, in an infinite glory that separates a time dimension of space and eternity- recorded in robert manuguid silverio’s “book of love”).*

minsan, may isang anghel… (another tv review on the succeeding episodes of “nathaniel”, the prime time teleserye on abs-cbn channel 2)

ABS-CBN channel 2 never failed our expectations to deliver a high-quality kind of an entertaining and very relevant TV telserye via their latest prime time TV show- Nathaniel.

Oo, minsan may isang ANGHEL.

AT,

MAGPAKAILANMAN.

cinema one memories and impressions

cinema one

A handsome indie film actor came in inside the Trinoma Cinema One theater house with a male buddy actor. He was tall, slim and elegant and very Filipino-looking. He climbed the stairs up and passed the other rows wherein other showbiz personalities and theater enthusiasts were seated and excitedly waiting for the film “Volator” shown up. It seemed, the actor wanted a better row and a seat that could be near his heart. And he found it. It was the left side row of the venue, and below that seat, lower to him, was, the blogger’s seat.
The blogger saw him and heard his voice.
“Hi, Alex”, the blogger greeted the actor.
“Hi, tito Robert! Nice to see you here!”, the actor happily replied.

alex

It could have been something else, but the mystery of life was out to be shown. And the lonely blogger preferred not to look back anymore. As he saw the film “Violator”, which was the best film he saw (and happily, it also won the Best Film at the recently-concluded 2014 Cinema One Originals awards night), he knew that reality was totally different from dreams and visions. He knew, too, that he was bound for something else and a dream was still waiting for him.
Just minutes ago, he was supposed to be seated in a different row, in the middle section of the cinema house. He chose that seat number “D-E”, but someone else took it. He was late in entering the theater venue because he bought some coffee and a donut. Upon seeing that someone took his seat, he saw another indie film actor (his crush, actually) seated beside that seat number. It could have been him seated beside that actor. And it’s okay even though the actor has got a female date beside him. The actor was RK, one of the stars of the film “Violator”.

In life, there could be many “misses” and many “fall-outs”, plus many mistakes, too. You tend to lose your poise and proper bearing when you saw people you love and adore, people who mattered, people who cared. And somehow, your love for the CINEMA was all that mattered, coz it entertained you and it was like the mirror of life and the water that quenched your soul.
The blogger was also there at the Gala Night of the movie “That Thing Called Tadhana”, but hid himself from the young actor named JM de Guzman. The blogger was already content seeing how the fans shrieked and shouted upon seeing him. That was all that mattered for the blogger. Like a mother who cared for her son, it was the feeling he felt. His good comeback at the Cinema already made the blogger happy after knowing that JM had already recovered from his drug problems.
jm
jm

Just a week ago, the blogger knew how JM managed to love him back. It was at the press conference of 2014 Cinema One originals held at the restaurant 9501 of ELJ Building in ABS-CBN compound. He asked JM the first question on that mid-day event. And JM stood-up facing him. The blogger’s voice cracked, nervously toned-up. He was at the verge of crying but heavily managed to control the bursting-out of tears because everyone was looking at him and JM. It was as if the world stood still at that moment. In a different dimension of life, JM was like a son, and facing a mother at that moment was the most beautiful picture of all.
At the Cinema One opening night, wherein the film “Esoterika: Maynila” was exhibited, the blogger saw lots of faces. This was one of the few events that a blogger truly enjoyed deep within his heart. He saw how people still supported the art of a TRUE CINEMA. Not the art of a commercial cinema. He saw sponsors, elite people, ordinary fans, veteran celebrities, media writers and friends- all gathered-up in one great event and celebration of a CINEMA. It was a moment of triumph. How the Cinema persevered and fought. How the young indie film artist were still trying to fight for it.
vince
vince

And Vince Tanada came on that night, too. It was perfect. The blogger felt so grateful that a man from the theater world managed to support the Cinema, too. And on that opening night of a festival, wherein Vince was also the star of “Esoterika: Maynila”, it seemed that a merging had happened. People from different worlds collided- all for the glory of a true Cinema. The film “Esoterika: Maynila” was shocking but beautiful.
ronald
ronald

The blogger greatly saw the efforts of a man behind this film festival- and his name: Ronald Arguelles, the Chairman of 2014 Cinema One Originals film fest. Ronald was there all along. In almost all the events leading to and connected to the festival. He looked so tired and weary at times, but his spirit of courage and faith kept on. In the end, he organized a festival that was all worthwhile and unforgettable.
sandino
sandino

The films that a blogger saw were all so good. All the ten competing films were executed and directed with great passion and intensity. “Esprit de Corps” made the blogger feel the beauty of gay love, and the magical scenes on the swimming pool and the forest were so everlasting in sight, executed by director Kanakan Balintagos with proper clarity. Sandino Martin, Lharby Policarpio and JC Santos were all so good! Especially Mr. Sandino Martin who used his eyes as his acting tool and felt his character’s sensitivity all throughout this film. Congrats, Sandino.
“Red” was truly fascinating. Though quite homophobic in nature, the film collided with dreams and violence and it was really hard to do that.
The other Asian films that a blogger saw were also magnificent. And also the restored version of the classic film “Hindi Nahahati Ang Langit”. It was all too great.

FAST CUT TO:

The dim indoors of the Trinoma mall complex looked so scary when you walked there all alone when it was about to close gates and doors after watching the last full show at the cinemas there. You just didn’t know where to exit, and where the doors where.
Sudenly, you were at a MAZE.
You felt so vague, so strange. It’s as if there was a void in your existence. It’s as if someone was gone.
You walked there ALL ALONE. Amidst the closed shops and restaurants… and you felt, you’re about to meet someone.
In the end, no matter how the journey was, the ONE will be TWO.

CINEMA ONE COULD HAVE BEEN…

CINEMA “TWO”

FOREVER.

(as the words were written, in robert manuguid silverio’s “book of love”, dated: NOVEMBER 17, 2014).

"two"

a blogger says- “thank you, ang babait ninyo”, for being a part of 2014 cinema one originals press conference…. (with photos by edwin dc and manuel del campo)

What could be more dramatic and glorious, when you saw a young man standing infront of you and you suddenly felt the jitters and the overwhelming feelings of a motherly love?

What could be more passionate than seeing a group of young film makers all lined-up on the stage and out to share their thoughts on the art of filmaking infront of media people?

And what could be more grateful than embracing and hugging back your longtime colleagues and comrades in the field of entertainment writing, wow, truly wonderful.

“Thank you, thank you, ang babait ninyo.”

Was all a blogger could say to himself during the recently-held 2014 Cinema One Originals press conference. It was an event he could never forget.

Seeing actor JM de Guzman being flunked by writers and TV crewmen made one felt so happy.
As Shamaine Buencamino readily agreed to take a pose for a camera and graciously answered questions by media people, as the “Princess of Indie Films” in person of Mara Lopez took a seat beside you and spent time, and as Jericho Rosales so warmly delighted you with his smiles and gestures of kindness…

The indie film industry would never be the same again.

The press conference was a huge success. The most respected senior and veteran entertainment journalists were all there, bloggers, columnists, TV anchors…. whew.

Indeed, this is INTENSE. The best crop of young film makers out to show their crafts in a festival that’s most-awaited and most cherished.

2014 CINEMA ONE ORIGINALS- “INTENSE”.

Now on its tenth year. And soaring higher for more!
