http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_weight_of_the_cross_carried_by_Jesus

Jesus was forced to carry a heavy crossbeam (it may have weighed 125-130 pounds) toward Golgotha, a hill outside jerusalem.”

Napakasakit nito.”

JESUS WAS NOT AN ATHLETIC MAN, HE WAS FRAIL... BUT HE ABLED TO WITHSTAND ALL THE GREAT PHYSICAL SUFFERINGS BEFORE HE DIED AND RESURRECTED.
JESUS WAS NOT AN ATHLETIC MAN, HE WAS FRAIL… BUT HE ABLED TO WITHSTAND ALL THE GREAT PHYSICAL SUFFERINGS BEFORE HE DIED AND RESURRECTED.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_times_was_Jesus_whipped

Jesus was whipped 39 times because if he was whipped 40 times he would die and if he died while the soldiers were whipping him then they would be put to death…

On 2nd Corinthians that was written by apostle Paul, ¬†it said there that Paul was beaten 39 times, on 5 different occasions. Jesus was only scourged once. The Bible doesn’t say how many times he was whipped, only that he was scourged.”

http://www.reference.com/motif/society/crown-of-thorns-that-jesus-wore

The crown of thorns that Jesus wore was placed on his head by the soldiers as another way to torment Jesus. It may have been made from the rose bush. As they placed it upon his head they mocked him by saying- ‘Hail, King of the Jews’.

“They also covered him in a purple robe. They spit on him and beat him. After beating him they removed the purple robe and put him in his old clothes. They¬†led him up to Golgotha to crucify him. They nailed Jesus to the cross. One nail in each hand and foot. While on the cross they continued to torment him. They rubbed his wounds with vinegar and stuck him in the side with a spear. They nailed a sign above his head saying ‘This is Jesus, King of the Jews’.

“Jesus asked GOD to forgive them. Even after all that they had done Jesus still asked GOD to forgive them. Jesus died and was placed in a tomb where he rose 3 days later! He had done as he said he would.”

JESUS IS WAITING FOR US.
JESUS IS WAITING FOR US.
Jesus nails – What do we know about the nails?
We know that crucifixion was invented by the Persians about 300 or 400 years B.C. Crucifixion was among the most painful and excruciating form of punishment leading to death ever contrived by man for man (women were never crucified). If we trace the word “excruciation” back to its origins we find that it is inextricably linked to the act of crucifixion:¬†Latin excruciatus, past participle of excruciare, from ex- + cruciare to crucify, from cruc-, crux cross¬†(Merriam Webster Dictionary).Contrary to popular notion the nails which held Jesus to the cross must have been driven into His wrists and not his palms. Jesus’ nails would have been made of heavy, probably square, iron material, 7-9 inches long. Many great painters from the past have depicted Jesus being nailed through His palms to the cross; it is a medical impossibility for this to be the case. You may have to really work your mind to grasp the enormity of what was going on here. The weight of a fully grown man was going to be suspended by three nails. Not all crucifixions were carried out in the same way; some victims were tied to the cross while others were nailed. Jesus was nailed. He was made to carry the cross-bar to the place of His execution. The upright post (stipe) was a permanent fixture. The crossbar (patibulum) was always carried to the location, not the complete cross as is often depicted. When Jesus got to the place of His execution, He was placed on His back with His arms outstretched. The nails were first driven through small wooden disks to eliminate any chance of the heads pulling through the flesh. The site of the incision in the arm was critical; the Romans had perfected the procedure, a very specific procedure. The legionnaire who had been given the task felt for a specific spot, the nail had to be driven in-between the bones of the forearm up close to the wrist while not severing any major arteries or veins. There is a space between eight small bones which is structurally suitable to permit a full body weight to be supported for a time. If the nails had been driven into the palms of the hands, under the extreme weight, they would have ripped out between the fingers.First, a nail would have been driven into His arm on one side, and then the other. The legionnaire would make sure that His arms were not pulled too tightly, allowing flexion and movement. With this done, the patibulum was then raised and affixed to the stripe. The next stage involved the nailing of the feet; this was also a deliberate action. The third nail had to be driven through both feet, which were turned outward so the nail could be hammered inside the Achilles tendon. With His knees slightly flexed Jesus was now crucified. As He slowly sagged down, He would have tried to support His weight with the muscles of His legs, an impossible position to maintain. In some cases, the victims’ legs were broken, so that they couldn’t support themselves in this way. Eventually more and more weight was placed upon the nails. The method the Romans had perfected ensured that crucifixion victims would hang painfully until their diaphragm went into spasm and they literally suffocated to death.¬†What an incredible price He paid for our sins!

A SPECIAL HOLY WEEK ARTICLE: vince tanada leads a group of “living warrior angels” and the importance of JESUS in his life…

As the sun rises, the sun also sets.

As the evening comes, the new morn awaits…

Thus, the essence of life is revealed.

But goodness will always prevail, no matter what.

HIS words will never FAIL.

HIS revelations will soon be revealed.

He will send his army of angels,

and brave living warriors

who will all fight for HIS glory.

The earth will be saved.

As long as there will be TWO MAN left who believed in HIS NAME.

Ordinary human beings prefer to keep silent, and prefer to be SAFE. They don’t want to be caught in the “middle of a war”. Thus, they all remain to be ‘mum’, suppressing what they want to shout or what they want to express. They want to be “corporate”, be like “robots”… and earn the privileges of material wealth.

When they experience “something divine”, they simply laugh it off. Or else, people may call them CRAZY.

They want to hide the goodness within them, not wanting to be exposed…

But a few ordinary beings would want to SHOUT their joy. Wants to become “witnesses”, and wants to do it simply because they feel they have to. To constantly remind people. People who forgets… people who shies-away.

And still, there are other ordinary human beings who do goodness in some other ways. Partly hidden, but gathering much “harvests’…

These ordinary human beings could be teachers, advocates, ¬†authors, etcecetera…and, ARTISTS/PERFORMERS, too, like Mr. Vince Tanada.

You could see them everywhere- as you walk in the long-stretch avenues, across the streets, and in the pages of a newspaper and internet blogs…

These people are REAL. Living, humble, not wanting to be “much-noticed” in their humble tasks.

But whether they like it or not, old and young people notice them. And one them, as mentioned above, is, no less than MR. VINCE TANADA.

Vince leads a group of young group of theater people. Very artistic, energetic group of young performers. This is not an easy task for Vince. Because these people are not just artists, they are WARRIORS.

Warriors who are brave enough to fight, to give, to love…

Philippine Stagers Foundation, you see, is not just a theater group. It is also a FOUNDATION. People who join here didn’t simply want to act, but they also want to become advocates for charity and for the students and the youth, also for the poor.

And through their kind of art, they abled to express a deeper meaning of life and education. Teachers and students love their plays, especially their big musical plays- the likes of “Ako Si Ninoy”, “Cory Ng Edsa” and “Joe: The Rock’sical”.

There was something more in those plays- with the way the “Stagers” acted, with the way it was written and directed, and executed. There was a SOUL.

This Holy Week of 2013, the Philippine Stagers Foundation will observe the Lenten Season to the max. Its leader, Mr. Vince Tanada, shares to this blogger the importance of Jesus, and let’s say, GOD, ¬†in his life:

“I have always believed that God is the source of my gifts and talents”, Vince whispered to the ears of this blogger in one intimate conversation. “That I am nothing and worthless if not for Him.

“From the moment I was born, I believe that God has chosen me to be an instrument in inspiring people. It is a rare gift that I have to take care and enrich because the gift entails a lot of responsibilities”, he added.

Great responsibilities, indeed, for Mr. Tanada. But he never did complain. He never grew tired and weary. As long as he sees his fellow ‘Stagers’ in one great unison of artistic performances, he could simply cry with joy and profound happiness.

‘Coz he trained them, he inculcated within them the right kind of discipline, and made them who they are now as performers- coming from a very raw talent, that Vince has transformed them.

And how will the Stagers observe the Holy Week, Mr. Tanada?

“The Stagers believe in the importance of Holy Week”, Vince answered. “They practice Visita Iglesia every year and they all walk bare-footed in Poblacion Makati every Good Friday as part of their yearly penitents. They are just any other Catholics who wants to practice their FAITH.”

DO YOU BELIEVE IN ANGELS, VINCE?

“Yes, I do believe in angels”, Vince was quick to answer as he continued to whisper in my ears.

“There were lots of true-to-life instances when I heard a soft, angelic voice warning me”, he continued saying. “A voice whispering in the deep recesses of my soul. It happens whenever I have choices to make, or whenever I was put in some hard dilemmas of life, eventually I will choose the right kind of choice, the right one, I mean, because I heed my angel’s call…

“And one remarkable and memorable experience I had with an angel was, when I’m about to meet a freak accident but my angel helped me with the steering wheel and avoiding it in one fine hairline! Robert, a flaming car was flying over my car! But a holy force guided me so I was saved!”

Angels, divine beings…

Jesus… GOD.

And Holy Week of 2013.

Let’s pause for a while and breathe. Let’s have a short break and let God come-in. Even just for once. Even just for this Lenten Season of 2013.

Let’s feel HIS grace, HIS love and HIS sufferings just to save mankind.

And HIS army of angels will rise-

FOREVERMORE.

at muli, ako’y lumalaban.

PAGASA.

At muli,

Kahit papa’no,

may isang ordinaryong NILALANG

na magmamahal pa rin sa kanila…

habambuhay.

Upang magpatuloy,

upang makipaglaban…

upang sa muli,

mapagtagumpayan namin

ang

iyong

KABUTIHAN.

Maaring sa ngayon,

sarado pa ang trangkahan

ng isang relihiyon

para sa dalawang nilalang…

Pero bukas,

sila’y muling papasok,

at

Malapit na malapit na…

AN ANGEL STORY

¬†“I Met An Angel” (a true story from sister sue)¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†

    Mysterious Visitor Angel Stories

I met an angel.

I am a member of the community where the Thurston High School shooting happened. I am also a graduate of Thurston High School, so this tragedy really hit home. I remember sitting in my office and watching all the police cars, fire trucks, ambulances and other emergency vehicles pass my building, wondering what was happening. It had to be big; I had never seen such activity. We turned on a radio and found out…there was mass shooting at the school.

In the following days, the news would give an update on the wounded children in the area hospitals. Of course, this daily update came with more news on the shooter. There was one young girl that had gotten shot in the head and was in the ICU. Doctors said they had done all they could, and things did not look good.

I started praying. I prayed every waking moment that not one more child would die. I prayed for days; and I called on angels to protect her, heal her, and give her life again. I prayed and prayed.

One evening while leaving work, I was walking to my car as I did every day.¬†I was praying…still.¬†There were two people walking on the sidewalk in front of me, and a few more people behind me.¬†Everyone was moving about, going home.¬†The traffic on the main street was full of noise and cars with people going home.

All of the sudden, I noticed the sun was extremely bright behind me and was getting hot on my back.¬†I even remember saying to myself,‚ÄúWow, the sun is so bright and warm‚ÄĚ.¬†As a habit while walking, I always watch the ground more than I watch where I‚Äôm going, because I don‚Äôt want to trip.¬†As I looked up to chart my¬†course, I saw the two people in front of me. I knew from my peripheral vision that no one else was around, still noting how bright it was even in the shade of a building.¬†I looked down again as I came to the corner of this building and almost ran into a man.¬†Where did he come from?

I jumped and said, “Excuse me.‚ÄĚ

He replied, “Excuse me,” and walked around me.

One step forward, I heard a slapping sound, and the man said, ‚ÄúOh, of¬†courseit’s you!¬†I should have known. Your aura is huge and bright!¬†I‚Äôm sorry.‚ÄĚ

‚ÄúExcuse me?‚ÄĚ I turned around and said.

The man repeated himself. ‚ÄúI‚Äôm sorry. I should have known it‚Äôs you. Your aura is huge.‚ÄĚ

Again I said, ‚ÄúExcuse me. Do you know me?‚ÄĚ

‚ÄúYes.‚ÄĚ

‚ÄúDo I know you?‚ÄĚ

He said, ‚ÄúWell, yes and no.‚ÄĚ

The man shook my hand, telling me his name (which I should have written down) and asked me if I knew who he was.

‚ÄúNo I don‚Äôt know you.‚ÄĚ I had no clue who he was, having never seen him before either. He told me where I worked, even where my desk sat. I asked if I knew him from the office, but I didn’t. He told me where I lived and that he knew I had a son.

Surprised, I said, ‚ÄúOK, that‚Äôs it.¬†Who are you?‚ÄĚ

‚ÄúI was sent to give you a message.‚ÄĚ

I asked him, ‚ÄúWhat message?‚ÄĚ The man told me that the girl would be fine, and I could stop praying for her.

I was totally freaked out. No one had known I was praying for this girl…no one! All of the sudden, I noticed the sun go brighter. There was no noise, no traffic. Yes, no traffic on one of the busiest streets in town at 5:15 pm. There were no people anywhere…total silence and bright, very bright light! It was as if we were the only people anywhere! I have never felt so comfortable in my life.¬†He held my hand for a moment; we talked, and he went on his way, stepping behind me and walking the opposite way I was walking.¬†I took two steps, turned around to say something else to him, and there was no one there.¬†There was no one anywhere.¬†You could see for blocks down the sidewalk, and there was no place for a person to hide.¬†I stepped out to the middle of the street to see if I could see the man one more time, and I couldn‚Äôt see anyone, cars, or anything!¬†The sun was still unbelievably bright. So I turned around, went back to the sidewalk, and took a couple more steps when all of a sudden I saw two people¬†walking in¬†front of me. There was now the noise of the typical 5 o’clock traffic on main street, cars coming out of¬†a parking¬†lot across the street, and people walking all around.¬†The sun dimmed, too. All of this happened at the same time.

I just stood there asking myself, ‚ÄúWhat just happened?‚ÄĚ My thoughts were spinning as I started recapping the last few moments I had spent with someone that knew everything about me.¬†I was¬†speechless.

That night I turned the news on when I got home, and the report came up on the girl in the hospital. The doctor said it was a miracle. She was near death, woke up, and was doing better than could ever had been expected. It could only have been a miracle.

The next day at work, my co-worker’s window faced out on the busy street. Across that street was a bus stop.¬†I saw a man standing in the corner wearing a long¬†leather coat¬†and leather cowboy-type hat.¬†I asked her to look at that man at the bus stop: He looked like a cowboy.

She looked and asked me, ‚ÄúWhere?‚ÄĚ

‚ÄúThere,‚ÄĚ I pointed out the window at the bus stop.

She looked and said, ‚ÄúThere is no one at the bus stop.‚ÄĚ

After we repeated this exchange a few times, I gave up. My co-worker was unable to see what I could see.

I went to lunch with a friend the next day and waited at the intersection for a change in the light. I told her my story and then asked if she too saw someone standing at the bus stop wearing a long leather coat and cowboy hat; I was now looking at him, again.

She looked and said, ‚ÄúNope. No one there.‚ÄĚ

OK. I waved at the man I could see as I passed by, and he waved back. I looked back after passing him: He was gone.

I can only come to one conclusion about this entire event. This little, gray-haired, bearded black man wearing old, torn jeans, brown t-shirt, leather vest and crystal rocks hanging from leather strings around his neck is my angel. There is no other explanation.

This is my story. Believe it if you wish; I don’t care.¬†I was there¬†and it changed my life.

I met an angel.

She rocks!!!

“Gerald Santos: The Prince Of Ballad Soaring High”!

Iyan ang titulo ng first major concert ni Gerald this coming April 30 at the Music Museum.

Santambak pa rin ang mga out-of-town shows niya, corporate events, and the likes.

But now, talagang all-out ang focus ni Gerald sa kanyang major concert.

That was in response to the first question we asked on Patrick. He was unassuming, candid and precise with the way he answered our questions.

“I really studied my role in every detail, researched fully my character, and went deeper”, Patrick added saying. “Portraying our national hero is no easy task. Kaunting mali sa characterization mo, people would notice easily. But that was the challenge. That challenge made me perform even better.”

The theater/season run of Joe: The Rock’sical had ended a month ago. It was Philippine Stagers Foundation’s closing play for its 11th season. And now, PSF (Phil. Stagers Foundation) is preparing for its new, 12th season. Patrick was so happy that he was a great part of PSF’s closing play. It gave him so many achievements.

Maraming hindi makapaniwala na nagampanan ko ng maganda ang papel ni Rizal“, he said. “Even me, myself, could hardly believe it. And many people appreciated my performances. Sa acting na ginawa ko. I was so happy. That, for me, is the greatest achievement.”

We learned from Patrick that in Joe: The Rock’sical,¬†he had 3 stages of characterizations:

“The theater-actor who was portraying Dr. Rizal, the real Rizal, and the future Rizal”, he said. “I had to incorporate those 3 characters in one musical play- all in one. It was really an ‘out-of-the-box’ role for me. But it was all worth it!”

Patrick is one of Philippine Stagers’ most-prized actors. He is also one of the best. When you watch him act and perform onstage, you’d feel the tremendous “kind of power” coming from within him as an actor.

“Maybe I pull it out from my own, personal life”, Patrick said to this writer at the end of the ‘ambush’ interview. “I came from a broken family. I lived alone most of my life. And it was so hard, so painful. My sad experiences in life only made me become a better person. And thanks to Attorney Vince Tanada for honing me to become a better person. He is like a father, a brother, a friend, a mentor to me, all in one.”

Yes, a great new theater actor is born. His name: PATRICK LIBAO.

An added feather to the “artistic cap”!

A GREAT, NEW SEASON FOR PHILIPPINE STAGERS FOUNDATION!

Hindi siya nagdadalawang-isip, hindi siya nagi-inarte, hindi siya “acting with an attitude”, as so they say always to this blogger. Kasi siguro, alam niyang basta PSF, isang great artistic event ang dadaluhan niya.

Nakakalokahhhh!

Anyway, last March 20 (Wednesday), damang-dama na naman ng blogger na ito ang KALULUWA NG SINING sa napakagandang event at show na ipinalabas ng PSF (Philippine Stagers Foundation) sa Pan Pacific Hotel, kung saan idinaos ang kanilang “culminating event” para sa kanilang Foundation Day at sa pagbubukas ng New Season (bale their 12th season) sa kanilang theater group.

It was entitled “PSF: Moving Furward On Its 12th Season!”

Yes, naka-twelve season na nga ang PSF. To date, ang PSF ang isa sa mga pinaka-successful na theater groups ng bansa, touring key cities all-over the Philippines and invading university/school campuses…. TO THE MAX!

Very ‘sozy’ ang ginanap na event. The Stagers were all so handsome and beautiful in their trendy outfits na “fur-inspired” motiff.

Although hindi man siya ang naboto naming “Male Stager Of The Night”, outstanding din si Patrick with his looks. Walang tatanggi!

Female Stager Of ¬†The Night naman si Cyndi Liper na super-glamorous-looking on that event.

Fun, free, loosening it up!

Naka-bonding agad ng blogger na ito si Dr. Almeda and she’s so warm and very sincere as a person!

Very cool but igniting kasi ang naging performance ni Jordan, at na-captivate niya ang puso ng mga sentimental na judges when he sang the song “Ikaw”, popularized by Ariel Rivera in the l980’s.

Nagkaroon naman ng bagong IDOLO ang blogger na ito in person of one ditinguished guest that evening- si Mr. Michael Angelo, isang book author, ex-seminarian and now a Political Adviser. Grabe, ang galing magsalita ni Mr. Angelo, very thought-provoking, pero hinahaluan niya ng komedya ang mga words of wisdom na sinabi niya when he gave a brief speech that night. Oh, my! Mr. Angelo is the NEW PROPHET of Philippine society!

Parang photography stills na gumagalaw, in black & white.

Parang “State of the Nation” address ng isang Presidente.

Napakapangit tignan. And with direk Vince’s brilliant and very creative mind, tiyak na mas magpupunyagi ang bagong version ng PSF in staging the life of our beloved Saint Pedro Calungsod.)***

Yes, PSF is MOVING FORWARD. And we’re glad to be a part of it!

Tama ba ako, papa Vince? Part na ba kami ng PSF??? Haha.
