Plot Outline:
MGA ALAALA NG TAG-ULAN (Memories of Rain) is a poignant, coming-of-age story about a young man’s first encounter with love, romance and heartbreak. It is told in bits and pieces of poetic and melancholic memories, pouring in one rainy night.

SANTI is a college freshman. His well-to-do family is coping with financial crises. They recently moved in into a small apartment, in a small suburban town. As Santi deals with teen-aged woes, adjustments with his new environment at home and in school, and as he finds escape from his parents’ marital conflicts, Santi encounters love-at-first-sight…

MARIE CLAIRE is more than ten years older than Santi. She works as an assistant in a Cafe bookshop. Lost, broken and fragile after a tragic break-up, Marie Claire left the province in search of a new beginning to find her place in this world…

One rainy afternoon, Santi and Marie Claire cross path. She seeks shelter from the heavy rain. He covers and protects her under his big red umbrella. Marie Claire is the most beautiful thing Santi has ever laid eyes on. Santi is the kindest and purest person Marie Claire has ever met.

Strangers finding solace in one another, the young man and older woman begin an amazing friendship. But as Santi gets closer to Marie Claire, the more she becomes a mystery to him. And the more he gets mystified, the more he falls in love with her.

In his pursuit of Marie Claire, Santi goes through a journey of finding the meaning of love, understanding its complexities, fighting for it, facing its challenges and accepting the pains and sufferings that it entails, transforming him, earning for him his passage to adulthood.

Jericho Rosales, Nora Aunor lead 36th Gawad Urian Awards

True to its tradition of awarding maverick indie productions, “Ang Paglalakbay ng mga Bituin sa Gabing Madilim” by Davao-based director-screenwriter Arnel Mardoquio was awarded “Best Film” in the 36th Gawad Urian Awards held Tuesday night at the NBC Tent in Taguig City.

Mardoquio though failed to bring home the best director trophy.

Much-awarded indie director Adolfo Alix Jr. was awarded best director for his work, “Mater Dolorosa.”

“This is for my Mom who always supported me and allowed me to nurture my love for cinema,” said Alix in his recent status on Facebook.

The awarding was hosted by Richard Gomez, Xian Lim, Cherie Gil, Butch Francisco and Iza Calzado.

The best actor went to Jericho Rosales for his work in “Alagwa,” a film by writer-director Ian Lorenons on human trafficking.

Nora Aunor, as expected, won the best actress trophy for Brillante Mendoza’s “Thy Womb.” Mendoza on the other hand won best production design for the same film.

Best Documentary award, to the delight of many, went to the enigmatic “Harana” by Benito Bautista. “Harana” tackles the nearly lost Filipino tradition of serenading ones’ love at night.

Gawad Urian is given by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP), a group of film critics and academicians.

Its active members for the past couple of years are Rolando B. Tolentino, Grace Javier Alfonso, Butch Francisco, Mario A. Hernando, Bienvenido Lumbera, Miguel Q. Rapatan, Benilda S. Santos, Dr. Nicanor G. Tiongson, Tito Genova Valiente and Lito B. Zulueta.

Papa Lance Raymundo is now back to his partying,  regular workouts and boxing trainings after a very heavy set of shooting schedules for the last three weeks of May and June.

He could hardly breathe with his heavy schedules, sometimes not sleeping at all ‘coz after shooting a few scenes from movie number one, he had to travel at once to the location shooting of movie number two. He would sneak a nap or two inside his car while travelling.

But he finished his commitments on time, including the international MTV, in which, he’s most excited about.

Recently, he attended the birthday bash of talent manager Biboy Arboleda, socialized with friends, boxed at the Elorde gym, did workouts.

His latest film, “Mga Alaala Ng Tag-Ulan”, directed by handsome NEW WAVE director Ato Bautista is soon to be shown at the Cine Filipino Film Festival this coming month of July. He played a rugged character there, and it really challenged him.

By the way, Lance is now preparing for a great part in the theater world. Yes, you heard it right! Lance will be doing a stageplay very soon! His last play was “Romeo And Juliet” a few years ago wherein he played the role of Romeo. It was under Bulwagang Gantimpala and was shown in the year 2008.

“I missed doing theater”, Lance said to this blogger. “It’s different from the showbiz world. People in the theater are more professional and talented. That’s why I am happy I will be back this time in the theater scene.”

Sexy, flirty, at pagiging sweet, ang naging performance ni Lovi Poe sa launching ng Love Affair, ang kanyang sariling perfume brand mula sa Bench.

Ginanap ang launching sa Trinoma Activity Center kahapon, June 16. Bukod sa mga executives ng nabanggit na clothing and personal care company, naroon din ang ilang malalapit na kaibigan at ilang miyembro ng pamilya ni Lovi.

Sa pasasalamat ni Lovi sa launching, nabanggit ng 24-year-old actress-singer na napanaginipan niya noon na may billboard siya sa Guadalupe, Makati City, bilang isang perfume endorser.

Sambit niya, “Dream come true. Hindi pa ako nagsa-sign sa Bench, literally, napanginipan ko na may billboard ako sa Guadalupe for a perfume.

“Then, after a few days, tumawag ang Bench, may meeting kami.

“Then, nag-sign ako sa Bench—same spot, pero, Bench body naman ang billboard.”

Naging modelo ng nabanggit na underwear line si Lovi nung 2010.

“So, now, I have a billboard again as Bench perfume endorser. So, dream come true talaga.”

PERSONAL CHOICE. Personal na pinili ni Lovi ang pangalan ng kanyang perfume line.

Kaya natawa ito nang sabihan siya ng isang miyembro ng press na marami na kasi siyang naging “love affair.”

Tanggi niya, “Hindi! It’s very sweet and sexy. Very flirty.

“Kailangan ibahin natin ang iniisip ng Filipino sa ibig sabihin ng flirty.

“Flirty, you know, perfume na lang. Hindi mo na kailangang mag-flirt. Dumaan ka lang, nakapag-flirt ka na.”

Dugtong pa niya, “I want to have a love affair—in a perfume! Iyon na yun,” natatawang sabi pa niya.

Pero sino nga ba ang ka-love affair o karelasyon niya ngayon?

“Wala akong ka-love affair. Perfume lang,” natatawa pa rin niyang sabi.
