Hosted by Carla Jenina Lizardo, Mutya ng Pilipinas Intercontinental 2010.”
At 21 years of age, he seems to be doing a lot of things. Studying, modelling and being a sportsman.
Naririto sa ibaba ang aming Q & A with Aljon Salonga:
And I feel so proud po to be among the young athletes na magkaroon ng chance na bigyan ng karangalan ang ating bayan. Nanalo na po kami ng third place a couple of years ago sa Thailand. Nag-compete na rin kami sa Singapore. As of now, hindi pa ganun kasikat ang sports na ‘yan. kasi mahirap talaga, at sabi nila, pang-mayaman lang daw. Pero I can say, it’s a very good sports and soon, alam kong marami ang sasali sa sports na ‘yan.
My favorite sports talaga is basketball, then, napunta ako sa swimming. After that, dito na ako napunta sa Water Polo sports. And water Polo sports is a combination of swimming, basketball, soccer at physical contact. Kaya I can say na extreme sports talaga ang water polo sports. Ang kaibahan lang nga, nasa tubig ka and you need to swim good to reach the goal. You must know also how to handle the ball.
ALJON: Lahat kaming nasa team, galing sa pagiging good swimmers. Then, pinili nila kami at tinuruan kami ng mga drills on how to play the sports. the ball is a rubber ball, but the difference is, it’s a wet grip and you must be really strong.
Punta naman tayo ngayon sa pagiging model mo and being one of the heart throbs of Elites Model Management. What can you say about being a model also, aside from being an athlete?
ALJON: For me, modelling is a new challenge. It gives me a higher self-esteem and it opens new doors for me. And with the help of my manager, Mr. Chikki Martin, who is the Godfather of Elites Model Management, i know that I am being guided properly. At the same time, being an athlete and a model at the same time, I know that I can inspire my fellow youths.
SSSIP: Will you further describe yourself, Aljon?
ALJON: At first, you will see me as a shy type of a person. Aaakalain mo, suplado ako, pero hindi po. Mahiyain lang po ako. Later on, madi-discover mo na napaka-kulit ko palang tao. Ang galing kong mangulit. My manager, Kuya Chikki and my fellow models at Elites Model management can attest sa kakulitan ko. I am also a very sweet and loving person.
SSSIP: Last question, Aljon. Will you also join the acting profession soon? I mean, would you love to become an actor, too?
Very unassuming siya at very relaxed.
SSSIP: Ang dami-dami mo agad fans, Miggy. Yung Facebook Page mo, more than 40,000 likes na.
SSSIP: How would you describe yourself?
MIGGY: Simple, kind and makulit.
MIGGY: May fashion show daw po ako sa SM City Masinag sa July 27 entitled “Denim Fit To Be Tied”.
SSSIP: Last question, Miggy.
“Luis Miguel Evangelista Tolentino is his real name. Miggy is his nickname. I want his screen name to be Luis Miguel. He just turned 18 years old last April 20. He is currently studying at the Unibersidad de Manila, first year College siya. He plays basketball. He also loves to dance. Miggy lives in Tondo, Manila. He is 5’6.5″ tall… He has 35 thousand followers in Facebook.”
(MR. CHIKKI MARTIN, THE ‘GODFATHER’ OF THE ELITES MODEL MANAGEMENT, TALKS ABOUT HIS LATEST MODEL- LUIS MIGUEL TOLENTINO).*
“It all started when a certain Poser in FB (Facebook) added me as friend using his pics. Actually, many other ‘posers’ of him added me. When I saw his pics I said to myself that this boy is a potential model and talent for showbiz industry… and also for commercials, print ads and billboards.”
I decided to look for him and when I did find him, he was at once very nice and accommodating to me.
“I told him I want to have a meeting with his parents. I didn’t want to just deal with him, without his parents’ consent … Well, I finally met him soon after with his parents. And now he is officially an Elite model. When I saw him in person… he is really a ‘potential’. Very handsome and artistahin.”
“His face is small which is good for TV and movies.”
“I am confident that he will make it good in the industry.”
“You will see more of him soon because he will be having a series of fashion pictorials for my Elites group and he will be launched together with the ‘Elites Hearthrobs’ on July 27 Sunday at SM Masinag.”
They project a ‘truly glorifying” registration on the wide movie screen.
Ganu’n kadami.
Actually, we just wanted to give it a try.”
“Models become good actors and actresses, too, didn’t they notice?”, pagtatapos na sabi ni Mr. Martin. “Kasi, they could project well, move well and internalize well.
Hanging out at night at the famous Malate District area could be a lot of fun, and noise. And if you want just some clean bonding time with close friends, without really a lot of noise, but with a relaxing and calming atmosphere- pick Cocomoon restaurant in Malate, which is just along Del Pilar St.
It was such a great night at Cocomoon restaurant- in one hot night of the month May- almost a month ago.
Together with the “Elites Godfather”, Mr. Chikki Martin (of the Elites Model Management), Ms. Jackie Caja (a marketing executive), photographer Vino Oriarte, ELITES model Mark Lim, and another model from Bodyshots 2014 (for some professional reasons, we could not mention his name here)- truly, it was such a warming experience, most of all, if the setting was COCOMOON RESTAURANT.
As we entered Cocomoon restaurant, you’d feel at once its calming texture. The place was dimly-lighted, perfect for a “romantic” feeling that a blogger was feeling that night. The interiors of the place was designed to capture your tired and exhausted mood. And it would transcend you to feeling a little bit “lighter”. Perfect.
The furniture fixtures of the restaurant were classic but cozy. There’s even two wide LCD T.V.’s in the main eating place, leading to the bar area wherein you could smoke freely and the glass doors closed so as not to disturb the “good air” in the main eating area.
At the bar area of Cocomoon, the feeling went lighter but a little bit hyper because of the drinks and the laughter- we meant, the FUN. And as we ordered food and drinks- wow, it all tasted so good and delightful. Especially their pizzas and chicken dishes.
Ms. Jackie Caja introduced us to the owner of Cocomoon restaurant- Mr. Jaimy Jung, a Korean by nationality but considered himself “half-Filipino” already because he had absorbed and loved the culture and genuine friendship of the Filipino people.
“I am half-Pinoy now”, Mr. Jung told a blogger. “I started living here in the Philippines since I was 17 years old. My years of stay here in the Philippines was long enough so I could consider myself a half-Filipino now by heart.”
But Mr. Jung’s still learning more Tagalog words.
“I can already speak some Tagalog words”, he said. “And I will try soon to understand more Tagalog words.”
And the blogger asked Mr. Jung- how was it owning and managing a restaurant like Cocomoon restaurant?
“There are good times and bad times, too”, he answered. “But the main factor was, we are all having fun. I wanted a place wherein people could simply relax and have fun. And I guess, I did that by putting-up Cocomoon restaurant.
“And I am blessed with with good employees”, he added. “They all help me out in my business. My filipino friends also help me a lot. They give me advices and opinions every now and then.”
And finally, let’s hear it from Mr. Jung himself on what could he say about Cocomoon restaurant and invite them?
“Yes, please do visit and enjoy dining and drinking at Cocomoon restaurant”, he said. “It’s a relaxing place and it’s quite different from most of the restaurants and bars in Malate area mainstream. Here at our place, we have no live bands, no loud music, no bad feeling. Only decent people come here at our place, and you’d really feel safe- especially the young professionals. Plus the fact that our place have a very reasonable price in food and drinks.”
That’s it. That night at Cocomoon was indeed a very memorable night. And the romantic and YOUTHFUL feeling was simply there. It was “something huge, something big”…
