“Myth photo exhibit at CCP”

THE Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) presents the exhibition Myth from 14 July to 21 August 2016 at the CCP’s Pasilyo Victorio Edades (4F Hallway Gallery).

Although composed of an installation of photographs, Myth is not so much about the individual images, as it is about questioning how and why artists Jippy Pascua and Dennese Victoria have accumulated, kept, and eventually selected the images for the exhibition. The images that shape this exhibition are from a survey of years’ worth of photographs; the pictures varying from ones taken from personal archives, to a few taken while on the sets of films, to a couple of found photographs of strangers from lives long lived and past.

Jippy Pascua is an artist and a filmmaker. He studied Creative Advertising in Canada and since 2008 has been working on creating films. His short film Excerpts premiered in the 2014 Singapore International Film Festival as part of the Southeast Asian Short Film Competition Programme. His works have been exhibited in various venues individually and as part of a collective of artists working mainly with film and photography called Tito &Tita.

Born in 1991 in the Philippines, Dennese Victoria’s images revolve around the themes of truth, memory, and personal history. She studied Journalism at the University of Santo Tomas and in 2011 interned at a weekly TV documentary where she then worked and filmed with the team and their other projects until 2014.

Artists Jippy Pascua and Dennese Victoria will be giving a talk on the exhibition on 18 August, 4pm, at the CCP’s 4th floor MKP Hall.

Exhibit viewing hours are from Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 6pm.
