THE PEN

A TRUE STORY:

ONCE UPON A TIME, A LONELY WRITER WENT TO A NETWORK STUDIO. BUT BEFORE HE COULD GET IN, HE HAD TO SIGN SOME WAIVERS. BUT STILL, HE WAS NOT ALLOWED IN, AS THE PERSON HE WAS VISITING THERE TOLD THE GUARDS HE WAS BUSY AND COULDN’T ACCEPT VISITORS.
OTHER PEOPLE WERE ALSO LINED-UP, ALL WANTING TO GET IN AND WAITING.
THE LONELY WRITER NOTICED, THERE WERE SO MANY PENS OUTSIDE THE WINDOW BOOTH OF THE RECEPTION ENTRANCE. AND SUDDENLY, HE SAW A LONELY PEN THAT LAID STILL IN ONE CORNER. HE USED THE PEN TO SIGN HIS NAME ON THE WAIVER. BUT HE FORGOT TO PUT BACK THE PEN WHERE IT USED TO BELONG.
UNCONSCIOUSLY, HE PUT THE PEN IN THE LEFT SIDE POCKET OF HIS POLO SHIRT, NEAR HIS HEART.
AND WHEN HE KNEW HE WON’T BE ALLOWED-IN, HE LEFT.

THE NEXT MORNING, THE LONELY WRITER RECEIVED A TEXT MESSAGE FROM A CELEBRITY, ASKING HIM TO GO BACK TO THE NETWORK STUDIO.
THE WRITER WORE THE SAME POLO SHIRT HE WORE A DAY BEFORE WHEN HE WENT BACK TO THE COMPOUND OF THE NETWORK.
THIS TIME, HE WAS ALLOWED IN.
BUT AS HE WAS SIGNING A WAIVER, THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW BOOTH OF THE RECEPTION NOTICED THE PEN HE WAS HOLDING.
“IT’S OURS”, SHE SAID. “PLEASE BRING IT BACK TO WHERE IT WAS BEFORE.”
WITH A HEAVY HEART, THE LONELY WRITER RETURNED THE PEN TO WHERE IT LAID.
HE WAS WALKING ALREADY INSIDE THE COMPOUND, WHEN SUDDENLY, A COOL BREEZE OF WIND EMBRACED HIM.
AND HE CRIED.
HE KNEW…
IT WAS ‘THE PEN’.

“THE PEN WAS OUTSIDE THE WINDOW BOOTH, AND I THOUGHT, YOU SAVED ONE PEN FOR ME.”
