Veteran TV host Boy Abunda will not be seen on screen anytime soon, even after three weeks of being on leave on “The Buzz” and “Aquino & Abunda Tonight.”
His co-host Kris Aquino and personal assistant Phil Dada confirmed that he won’t be visible on television.
It was Kris who advised her dear friend to take a leave to regain the 20 lbs. he lost during a two-week confinement in the hospital.
“On Tuesday (September 2), upon the advice of a very good friend, na itago natin sa pangalang Kris Aquino, aalis siya para magbakasyon somewhere… where there’s privacy, there’s a lot of sand, sun, beautiful water,” the TV host said on “The Buzz” last Sunday.
“The only thing he’s complaining at the moment is the pain on the aspirate procedure. May konting pain pa rin’ yung procedure (operation). Otherwise, he’s up and ready,” Phil said in a Twitter update posted by ABS-CBN anchor Julius Babao.
Aspiration could mean two things, according to the website of the U.S. National Library of Medicine and National Institute of Health.
Aspiration can mean breathing in a foreign object (such as sucking food into the airway). The term can also refer to a medical procedure that removes something from an area of the body. These substances can be air, body fluids, or bone fragments. An example is removing ascites fluid from the belly area.
In the August 13 episode of “Aquino & Abunda Tonight,” Kris said the Philippines’ King of Talk was confined on August 8 due to high fever.
Meanwhile, Boy laughed off death rumors and asked for prayers for his recovery instead, his personal assistant said.
“He misses everybody but asking all of you to pray for his speedy recovery,” Phil related. “Natatawa na lang po siya sa mga mali-maling balita na ‘patay na sya.’”
