When good people gather together for a good cause, life could be a lot more beautiful. At the recently-concluded kick-off party of Philippine Stagers Foundation for their latest opus play Filipinas: 1941 (Isang Dulayawit), free-wheeling souls- happy, zestful and hopeful- mixed-in with absolute party event that lasted until the wee hours of the morning.
As a blogger went there early to catch a Catholic mass held in the afternoon at the PSF studio, he was at once got thrilled with the great interior design of mini stage and the adjoining areas of the studio. He later learned, Stager JV Cruz conceptualized the interior design, with the help of fellow Stagers OJ, John Paul, Chin and Jerie. It’s such a wonderful feeling that the Stagers themselves were the ones who’d make the guests feel relaxed with a good atmosphere of a party event.
The Stagers were all dressed-up so fashionably and impressively, too. One fellow blogger in person of Ms. Trixie Dauz, and another entertainment journalist were both delighted with how they were dressed-up that evening. “They’re so stylish”, an entertainment journalist quipped.
After the solemn mass ended, movie reporters and broadsheet writers, together with a very respected entertainment editor of Manila Bulletin (Ms. Crispina Belen) started flocking-in at the PSF studio. A teaser of “Filipinas: 1941” was presented right then and there at the mini stage of the studio. The journalists were left “breathless”.
“Ang ganda! (So beautiful!)”, Mr. Obette Serrano of the TV show on channel 2’s Salamat, Dok- whispered to a blogger. “They’re all so good! And Vince is so outstanding!”
And that’s just a teaser, we might say. The Stagers were all in a party mood, and they didn’t give-in totally with the teaser scenes. What more, if the journalists saw them live onstage at a proper venue, complete with make-up, costumes and proper internalization. Surely, the more they’d feel the “awe”.
The mini press conference started. And Mr. Vince Tanada- the head of PSF and an award-winning actor, impressed one cynical critic in person of Mr. George Vail Kabristante- with Vince’s accurate and objective answers to his very intriguing questions.
“Let’s all give Vince a big round of applause!”, was the only thing he could say upon being left dumb-founded with Vince’s smart answers.
As the mini press con ended, the great PARTY started! Whew.
Bar drinks started flowing-in (because a bar mobile sponsored it), and the great and super-tasty buffet food dinner was totally consumed.
Laughter and fun, pleasure and zest followed. What more, the PSG’s (Philippine Stagers Gays) added more fun with their great musical production numbers which were all “Japanese-inspired”. Kudos to Art Gabrentina, Chin Ortega, John Paul San Antonio, OJ, Gerald, D’Rotsen Etolle and the rest. Total performers are they, really.
Games of great delight came-in, too, right onstage. In which movie reporters participated and had great fun and prizes. The Stagers were all participants, too, of the games and they assisted each movie reporter in the games.
There were also songs and dances from the new members of the Stagers- especially the Divas. Truly a great night.
But a blogger felt an awesome feeling of love and kindness as the night ended, when Vince had this to say to the five remaining press people who stayed all throughout the party:
“I will be joining you all to our coming Bicol caravan journey this coming month of October!”, Vince said. “JC, Art, Robert, Maryo and Alex… , you’ll all join me and the Stagers for a ten-day trip to the Bicol region. We all felt your great support and friendship to us, and it’s our own way of giving that friendship and love back to you.”
As great smiles were seen in the lips of the five press people, applause and shrieks of joy came afterwards.
“Some angels may be in disguise. Catch their halos and just learn to smile”.
A blogger heard that heavenly voice again upon his ears. And he knew, he was never wrong, after all.
