FOREWORD FROM SIP & SIP:

cynthia nixon's character in "sex and the city" is unforgettable...

She’s the low-key, but fascinating woman in SEX AND THE CITY Tv series during the late 90′s, wherein she portrayed the character of “Miranda Hobbes”.  I will never forget her. She’s a great actress. And I so admire her strength, her casualness, her unique ways…

Miss Cynthia Nixon.

She’s no hypocrite. She’s a woman. And a bisexual.

IT’S A BRAVE, NEW WORLD TO ALL OF US.

CYNTHIA NIXON WIT X390 (GETTY) | ADVOCATE.COM

Actress Cynthia Nixon is bisexual and that “is not a choice,” she said in an exclusive statement toThe Advocate.

The former star of Sex and the City who is now on Broadway in Wit has been the focus of heated discussion among the LGBT community because of a comment she made to The New York TimesMagazine earlier this month.

“For me, it is a choice,” she had said of being in a relationship with Christine Marinoni, who she has a child with and plans to marry. In a follow-up interview with The Daily Beast, she revealed that gay Episcopal bishop Gene Robinson will be marrying the couple.

It was while talking to the Beast that Nixon, who was in a relationship with a man for 15 years and had two children, said she’s bisexual. And she admitted being leery of identifying by any label, especially that one. “Everybody likes to dump on the bisexuals,” she told the Beast.

Outrage spread online that Nixon might be saying being gay is not genetic, followed by discussions of whether it even matters. Now Nixon is clarifying her words in a carefully thought-out statement, with the hope that finally what she intended to say comes through.

Read the complete statement below.

“My recent comments in The New York Times were about me and my personal story of being gay. I believe we all have different ways we came to the gay community and we can’t and shouldn’t be pigeon-holed into one cultural narrative which can be uninclusive and disempowering. However, to the extent that anyone wishes to interpret my words in a strictly legal context I would like to clarify:

“While I don’t often use the word, the technically precise term for my orientation is bisexual. I believe bisexuality is not a choice, it is a fact. What I have ‘chosen’ is to be in a gay relationship.

“As I said in the Times and will say again here, I do, however, believe that most members of our community — as well as the majority of heterosexuals — cannot and do not choose the gender of the persons with whom they seek to have intimate relationships because, unlike me, they are only attracted to one sex.

“Our community is not a monolith, thank goodness, any more than America itself is. I look forward to and will continue to work toward the day when America recognizes all of us as full and equal citizens.”

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF CYNTHIA NIXON (Taken from WIKIPEDIA.COM):

Nixon was born in New York, New York, the daughter of Anne Knoll, an actress from Chicago, and Walter E. Nixon, a Texas-born radio journalist. She graduated from Hunter College High School, and attended Barnard College.During her college years she also studied abroad with Semester at Sea in the spring of 1986.

From 1988 to 2003, Nixon was in a relationship with English professor Danny Mozes. They have two children together. Since 2004, Nixon has been in a relationship with education activist Christine Marinoni. She remarked in 2007: “In terms of sexual orientation I don’t really feel I’ve changed… I’d been with men all my life, and I’d never fallen in love with a woman. But when I did, it didn’t seem so strange. I’m just a woman in love with another woman.” On May 17, 2009, at a rally in support of same-sex marriage, Nixon announced that she and Marinoni had become engaged the month before. Marinoni gave birth to their son, Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni, in 2011.

In October 2006, Nixon was diagnosed with breast cancer during a routine mammogram. She initially decided not to go public with her illness because of the stigma involved, but in April 2008 she announced her battle with the disease in an interview with Good Morning America.Since then, Nixon has become a breast cancer activist. She convinced the head of NBC to air her breast cancer special in a prime time program, and became an Ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Brad Pitt: ‘I don’t care if my child is gay’

6 August 2009, 5:05pm
with kind courtesy from OUTRAGE MAGAZINE’s link:

Hollywood star Brad Pitt has said that he doesn’t care if any of his children are gay, saying: “I hope I teach my kids to be who they really are”.

In an interview with Parade magazine, Pitt, 45, said having a gay child wouldn’t bother him “one bit”.

“Would it bother me if a child of mine turns out to be gay? No, not one bit. I want my kids to live the lives they want to live. I want them to be fulfilled. I hope I teach my kids to be who they really are,” he said.

Pitt, who has six children with partner Angelina Jolie, including three who were adopted, also defended the couple’s decision not to get married, saying they won’t do it until “it’s legal for everyone else”.

“When someone asked me why Angie and I don’t get married, I replied, ‘Maybe we’ll get married when it’s legal for everyone else.”

He continued: “I stand by that, although I took a lot of flak for saying it – hate mail from religious groups.”

“I believe everyone should have the same rights,” he continued. “They say gay marriage ruins families and hurts kids. Well, I’ve had the privilege of seeing my gay friends being parents and watching their kids grow up in a loving environment”.

The actor said that his views stem from his position that all people should have equality.

In September 2008, the star made a $100,000 (£54,840) donation to the campaign against Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage in California.

Pero pinaka-mahahabang eksena naman ang kukuna sa February 8 hanggang February 15- which is SEVEN LONG DAYS to be exact sa Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard!

jeremy renner as a secret agent in "the bourne legacy".

Very visible sa kanilang Pinoy fans sina Rachel Weisz at Jeremy Renner.

But all’s well that ends well naman. Hahahahayyyyy….!

THE MAN BEHIND THE LITERARY CHARACTER OF ‘JASON BOURNE’: MR. ROBERT LUDLUM!

free counters

FOREWORD FROM SIP & SIP :-)

SINCE THE EARLY PART OF JANUARY, 2012, THE CAST AND CREW OF THE HOLLYWOOD FILM “THE BOURNE LEGACY” HAD BEEN SHOOTING IN OUR COUNTRY, THE PHILIPPINES. THEY ALREADY SHOT SCENES IN QUIAPO, TAFT AVENUE, NAGTAHAN BRIDGE AREA, AND THE LIKES. THIS COMING WEEK, WE BELIEVE, THEY WILL BE SHOOTING IN MARIKINA CITY AND OTHER AREAS AROUND METRO MANILA.

“THE BOURNE LEGACY” IS THE LATEST FILM ADAPTION OF A LITERARY NOVEL SERIES CREATED BY MR. ROBERT LUDLUM, A GREAT NOVELIST OF SUBSTANTIAL ESPIONAGE THRILLERS, THUS, THE CHARACTER OF ‘JASON BOURNE’ WAS BORN.

DASHING AMERICAN ACTOR MATT DAMON HAS PORTRAYED THE CHARACTER OF JASON BOURNE ON THE THREE PREVIOUS ‘BOURNE SERIES’ FILM ADAPTATIONS. THE FIRST WAS “THE BOURNE IDENTITY”, WHICH REVEALED THE MYSTERY BEHIND THE CHARACTER OF JASON BOURNE. THE NEXT “BOURNE” MOVIES FOLLOWED, LIKE THE “THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM” AND “THE BOURNE SUPREMACY” .

THIS TIME, ANOTHER DASHING AMERICAN ACTOR- MR. JEREMY RENNER- WILL PORTRAY A CHARACTER OF AN AGENT WHICH IS NOT JASON BOURNE. Mr. Renner, instead, will portray an agent in the same line of business as Bourne, with RachelWeisz and Edward Norton co-starring. The character of Jason Bourne is not included in “The Bourne Legacy” film adaptation (only in the novel).

IT’S SUCH AN HONOR THAT A GREAT LITERARY STORY IS NOW BEING SHOT IN THE PHILIPPINES. CINEMATIC ART HAS CAPTURED THE LITERARY BEAUTY AND FEELING OF OUR NATIVE AND BELOVED LAND.

THANK YOU!

jeremy renner in "bourne legacy".

ROBERT LUDLUM

ROBERT LUDLUM: THE GREAT AUTHOR!

American author famous for his thriller novels, the number of his books in print is estimated between 290-500 million copies. His books have been published in 33 languages across 40 countries. Ludlum also published books under the pseudonyms Jonathan Ryder and Michael Shepherd.

Some of his famous works are:

The Osterman Weekend (1972)

The Holcroft Covenant (1978)

The Apocalypse Watch (1995)

The Bourne Series (1980)

The real mystery about Robert Ludlum is how he has managed to write no fewer than 12 new bestsellers in the six years since his death, writes Rob Sharp.

MYSTERY. Conspiracy. Identity. If a book were to tell the story of Robert Ludlum, these would be its themes. A successful actor and theatre producer who turned his hand to popular fiction, Ludlum practically cornered the market in dense, paranoid, meticulously researched thrillers for 30 years.

By the time of his death in 2001, he had sold 210 million books – a figure only exceeded by J.K. Rowling. One of the hottest properties at the cinema box office in the past couple of months has beenThe Bourne Ultimatum, the third instalment of a $US500 million-grossing movie franchise based on Ludlum’s best-known character, starring Matt Damon as an amnesiac spy.

Yet for all the sales figures and superlatives, it is somehow fitting that a novelist who specialised in complex conspiracy theories and international espionage should have left behind a conundrum to baffle even Bourne himself.

In the years since his death, 12 new works bearing his name have hit the bookshelves and beach-towels of the world. None was penned by Ludlum himself – and at least three have not been credited to any other writer.

These include The Bancroft Strategy, published last year, which sold 102,000 copies in hardback alone. Like Bourne, whose life after death underscores the basis of the film trilogy, so, too, has his creator found a new identity in his afterlife.

The truth behind how Ludlum achieved immortality is elusive. During his lifetime, Ludlum surrounded himself with a tight circle of associates – those from the worlds of theatre and publishing, and other authors – who have remained intensely loyal to the memory of the modest-living multi-millionaire.

His estate is similarly evasive about claims that an army of secretive ghost-writers is producing books under the Ludlum name. What is clear is that Ludlum’s final wish, for his work to live on beyond his death, has been achieved.

His extraordinary productivity has extended well into the afterlife. Like Ernest Hemingway, whose estate issued several books after his suicide, Ludlum – whose hyperbolic style is still adored by hungry fans around the world – appears to speak from beyond the grave.

"the bourne legacy" in the Philippines!

SYNOPSIS OF ROBERT LUDLUM’S  ”BOURNE LEGACY”, A NEW NOVEL BY ERIC VAN LUSTBADER:

Robert Ludlum Lustbader – Bourne Legacy -
A  substantial espionage thriller, which brings Robert Ludlum’s “Jason Bourne-like/copycat character” of an agent back for a fourth outing. An agent’s peaceful life as a family man and teacher of Eastern studies atGeorgetown University is brutally interrupted by a sudden sniper attack and the double murder of his two best friends. Framed for the killings, the agent is forced back into the violent world he had hoped never to revisit. What follows is a roller coaster ride of intrigue and betrayal that will take the agent halfway around the world in an effort to clear his name. Along the way, he uncovers a deadly plot against an upcoming summit on terrorism. The story handles the large cast and international settings with ease, keeping his foreign accents on the light side. Even when the writing strays toward the melodramatic and some transitions happen so quickly, we may be confused as to where they were and who was speaking, the story  knows how to keep the action moving and the characters grounded and real.

Iilan lang nga ba sila?

Susan Valdez, Pinky Amador, Sue Prado, Monique Wilson, Lara Fabregas….

christine joy (seated, left) in one of the scenes of "sino ka ba, dr. jose rizal?"

After the performance, nakausap namin si CJ. And she talked about the stageplay “Sino Ka Ba, Dr. Jose Rizal?”

Here are CJ’s words:

“We’ve had more than 10 performances already of this great play on Dr. Jose Rizal. It is something so precious to me to be a part of- because it is a part of our history.”

And he is our national hero. I did a lot of research portraying two characters, alternating with fellow stage actress Miss Kathleen Hermosa bilang Maria Clara at Josephine Bracken.”

“Ang mahirap sa portrayals ko as Maria Clara and Josephine bracken was the quick change or sudden transformations of the emotions and internalizations. But it’s so challenging for me as an actress.”

“When an auditioned for this role at Gantimpala Foundation casting call, ang dami talaga naming nag-audition. And imagine, naka-wheelchair pa ako nung nag-audition at that time coz I got an accident on my foot. Still, I got the parts. Thanks.”

It was first acted on stage by Ogie Alcasid as Rizal and Rachel Alejandro and Chinchin Guttierez alternating as Josephine Bracken a few years back. We managed to come-up with a good play remake.”

“Gerald santos was so good as Dr. Jose Rizal. Pinahanga niya ako. Imagine, may lips-to-lips pa kami dito sa isang scene, samantalang mas may edad ako sa kanya. But we had to do it for arts’ sake. gerald was very gentleman to me on that scene!”

“I am so grateful with Gantimpala Foundation for giving me this opportunity, and also to Prinstar Productions.

Mas magiging visible naman ako this time sa TV.  I have a weekly show now sa TV 5- yung ‘Jose & Wali Show’. May isa rin akong cable show sa channel 2- yung ‘Ibang Klase’ wherein I play the role of a teacher.

SO THERE. IYAN ANG MGA EXACT WORDS NI CJ ABOUT “SINO KA BA, DR. JOSE RIZAL?”

Magkakaroon ng restaging ang magandang musical play na ito by June 15 of this year- at sa Cultural Center of the Philippines na gaganapin iyon.

He’s so deeply engrossed to his work that afternoon, feeling every lyrics of the song he’s recording.

gerald with this writer, during his recent recording session for his third album.

“It will be a compilation of remake songs”, dagdag na information pa ni Mr. Ramilo sa blogger na ito. “And it will be Gerald’s version this time. Most of the remake songs, hindi pa nare-remake at first time pa lang mare-remake.

And this blogger could say to all the people in the recording room- “Mas maganda ngayon ang version ni Gerald. Winner! Ang galing!”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzi3zEtfmdc

At napag-alamanan namin, the last year of 2011, napakarami palang naging achievements ni Gerald. Isa na rito ang pagkaka-nominate niya sa Aliw Awards as Best Actor in a Musical Play, at pati na ang kanyang major concert last year na “Gerald Santos:  Major Move” ay na-nominate din. Nanalo din siya sa  third PMPC Star Awards as Male Pop Artist of the Year at Star of the Night, his second album turned into Gold at very succesful ang kanyang stageplay na “Sino Ka Ba, Jose Rizal?” , na para sa blogger na ito, one of the best things that has happened in terms of impact and presentation sa taong 2011, because Gerald’s acting talent shone so great in that stageplay.

But Gerald, after proving to everyone that he could be great onstage as an actor, has to adjust now.

“Ibang-iba kasi ang teatro”, nawika ni Gerald. “And this time, I have to subside a little kasi I will be back now sa ‘pop’ side ko, singing pop music once more sa mga gagawin kong concerts and CD albums this year.

“And portraying Jose Rizal was a perfect role for me”, muling sabi ni Gerald. “Mabigat yung role.

At this time, sa magarbong Cultural Center of the Philippines na itatanghal yun.

Paging Mr. Oliver Oliveros of Broadway World.Com!

In the meantime, selling like hotcakes pa rin ang kanyang second album na “Gerald Santos: The Prince of Ballad”, at maski man ito ay na-nominate bilang Best Pop Album sa nagdaang Aliw Awards.

5 Literary Adaptations to Look Forward to This Year!

By Maryann Yin on December 30, 2011 3:07 PM

Hollywood has lots of new literary movies scheduled for 2012. Here are five upcoming literary movies to look forward to in the new year.

Walt Disney Animation Studios will rerelease Beauty and the Beast in 3D. The film’s story comes from Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont‘s version of the fairy tale called La Belle et la Bête. It arrives in theaters on January 13th.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, the sequel to the 2007 film, once again stars Oscar winner Nicholas Cage as the Marvel Comics antihero. The movie comes out on February 17th.
Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters picks up where the Grimm Brothers left off. It explores the aftermath of how this sibling duo fared following their escapade with a cannibalistic hag. The movie hits theaters on March 2nd.
The Raven, a fictional action-adventure film, stars John Cusack as legendary mystery author Edgar Allan Poe. It’s headed for the big screen on March 9th.
The Hunger Games, arguably the most anticipated adaptation of 2012, adapts the first book in Suzanne Collins‘ popular young-adult trilogy. The movie will be released on March 23rd.

Inililibot kasi nila ang movie sa mga key cities, schools, universities and provinces- to help students be totally aware of the effects of AIDS, an incurable health disease that still spreads all over the world.

BULLYING, for short.

It’s one kind of “commercialism” or disgrace to the artistic world!

Salamat, direk Buboy. We have high hopes on you.
